Every cricketer and young boy dreams of representing their nation at a global level, no matter the format. Canada is living this dream by participating in the upcoming T20 World Cup. They qualified for the 2026 tournament after winning the Americas Regional Final in June 2025.
This is only the second time Canada is showing their presence in a T20 World Cup. It is a huge achievement because, compared to the established teams of the world, Canada is just in the beginning phase and trying to make a name for themselves.
In 2024, Canada only played in the group stages. They didn’t perform very well, so they could not qualify for the next round. But this time, they have a great opportunity and a really good team.
Canada has announced a 15-member squad for the tournament, which takes place in India and Sri Lanka starting this February. Canada is in Group D and will compete against South Africa, New Zealand, Afghanistan, and the UAE. While South Africa, New Zealand, and Afghanistan are the major teams, it will be interesting to see who surprises everyone in this group. Both the UAE and Canada have great potential and the ability to win against any team.
